Mahdi's father was a tailor and, as a child, he loved watching his dad create beautiful garments. His father had explained to him how the  wool from sheep and goats, the hide from animals and fibers from plants could be woven into beautiful fabrics, with a multitude of colors and designs.  When his friend Stefan Czernecki asked him to help illustrate a book, Mahdi got the idea to use scraps of fabric  as a new and interesting way to do so. While helping him to illustrate the book, ZIG ZAG, Mahdi got introduced to the wonderful new world of art.
